I was pacing the floor at Collinwood when Maggie entered. She told me she had left Amy playing at the Old House. Then she realized there was something I didn’t know. Mrs. Stoddard had hired her to replace Vicki; she was going to be taking care of Amy.
I told Maggie that would be great for Amy, but I quickly shifted gears and told her I hadn’t been able to find Joe all day. She said there was something else I didn’t know that she should have told me. I’m afraid my grip on her tightened and she said I was hurting her. “Tell me,” I ordered. And she did. Joe was alive but badly hurt.

Maggie told me that Joe refused to call the police. (He should have!) I nodded in agreement and quietly acknowledged when she commented that the animal had to be caught. The clock chimed. What time was it? I had to get out of there!
As Maggie said she’d tell Amy I stopped by, Dr. Hoffman entered and I told her the sleeping pills she gave me didn’t work. She asked how many I took. (I took all 3.) “All of them?” she exclaimed. When I told her she had to give me something stronger, she said she didn’t know of anything stronger. (There has to be something stronger… there has to be!)
When I returned home and opened the door, I saw Joe standing with my torn shirt. “What does this mean?” he asked.
