Tom Jennings (June 11, 1968, pt. 2)

Night had come to Collinwood. I stood still and silent outside the Old House, staring into the window. As I watched  Julia Hoffman enter the room and catch Jeff reading some type of journal, I tried to remember how I got there.

The evening after Maggie came to the hospital, Joe arrived just as she promised he would. He repeated what Maggie told me… that they were both glad I was feeling better and they had been pretty worried about me.

I told Joe I wanted him to go to the police. He had to tell them I’m not the kind of person that tells lies; I’m the kind of person that tells the truth. He asked why and I told him about the house and the room and the coffin. He told me he knows Nichols Blair very well and there’s no coffin.

If he didn’t believe that, he wouldn’t believe any of my story! I insisted there was a coffin in a room downstairs and told him he had to help me. Then I told him the rest of the story… about the beautiful girl in the woods.

He told me he believed me. Thank God! He assured me he wasn’t just telling me that. He really did believe me! I told him to go, then, and thanked him. I had been lying there worrying he would think I was nuts, but it turns out he didn’t think I was crazy.

I thought it was odd when Joe walked over to the window and opened it. He said it was hot and I must be pretty tired. I admitted that I sure was tired and with the load off my mind, fell quickly to sleep.

Around 2:00 a.m. I was tossing and turning in bed. I heard dogs howling in the woods and then a chirping noise. I ripped off the bandage around my neck as the beautiful blonde girl appeared and bent over my body…

Planting soon!
